Well we rode out Ike at the house, no major damage but allot of roof shingles were blown off the house and water was driven in all the windows and soaked carpets and was running down the walls. After the storm had passed we had allot of cleanup and we are still without power. The morning after the storm we managed to get about 1/4 mile from the marina and I walked down to the dock. From there I got a ride down to the boat from a friends dingy because the dock was still 4 feet under water, and low and behold from the grace of God she was still in her slip and did not have a scratch on her. All my triple dock lines had been stretched and from the marks on the tide riser poles the boat had withstood a 12 foot tide surge. Thankfully no boats around her had let go.... At 6:00 PM, on Saturday, right as the tide had risen to 3 to 4 inches above the dock I had managed to make it down to the boat for one final check of my lines and snugged them down one last time before it was impossible to withstand the wind, rain and rising tide water. I guess it paid off, because she is now a hurricane survivor. You can be sure that I took a knee in silent prayer that morning after. We have so much invested in our boating life and it would have been devastating to us if she had gone down. We are tired and banged up right now but we are fine. The house is airing out and the carpet is peeled back in most of the rooms and all broken fence boards and roof shingles and tree limbs are cleaned up from around the house. We are waiting for the insurance people to come out to the house so we can start repairs. We were on the west side of Galveston bay in the Wharf marina and somehow we made it.

10/02/08 Cool I am glad your boat made it.
I have a 1964 37 Egg in Marathon Florida and it has been through three hurricanes but nothing like you describe. Eggs are good boats
