I am a marine surveyor surveying a 38 Egg Harbor Sedan and the HIN I found on the boat is "EGG381431172". What year was the boat built in? Egg Harbor has no records for that period and the owner who is the 4th or 5th said it was a 1974.

look in the port side hanging locker there is a label giving you this information The label is on the back of the locker door near the top.
I have a 1964 37 Convertible sedan Larry Rachlin 973 762 3636

Convention tells us the number represents a 38', #143 of the year, made Nov. 1972.
If you know the documented boat name or official documentation number, you can do a search on the Coast Guard website and see what year the boat is by their records.
